The most agile and mentally flexible person I know is my dad. You see, my dad walked into Kings College Hospital complaining and pain in his leg. The pain was caused by his diabetes which affected the blood circulating in his right leg.

After being in the hospital for a traumatic 3 months they couldn’t save his leg and it had to be amputated.
Despite the fact that my father had been given large doses of morphine to manage the pain resulting in hallucinating he was able to find another gear, a gear that made him even more resilient than he was before.
Far from feeling sorry for himself entertained the nurses on the ward, kept himself busy by learning to use a wheelchair, and gradually learned to mobilize using crutches all at the tender age of 83.
You see, my dad realized that there is a time in everyone’s life where we wish things could be different, but we need to embrace change. Because by doing so we become acceptant, responsible, progressive, innovative, and renewed.
