Characteristic of Resilience People
In this article, you’ll discover how the following powerful personal core values can make you Phenomenally Resilient they are:
I can’t stress how important it is in a world that often throws everything at you to beat you down, to be resilient. You see, people who are resilient possess the unique ability to see the world through an entirely different lens from most ordinary people.
Not only do they take responsibility for their own emotional well-being, but they also have the ability to stay in control and stay focussed and realistically optimistic even during tough times. Over time, I have begun to be able to master this rare and very precious quality by repositioning my thoughts and putting them into perspective.
To achieve this I pursued a pragmatic, empowerment approach to life which not only boosted my confidence, it enabled me to find another gear, one which I never knew I had.
“Self-control is the ability to resist temptation and remain focused”
And the amazing thing about is, that you can too.
You see most successful people manage to find that extra gear that makes them resilient. They find the tenacity and drive to build their success and find another gear to help them sustain it.

The 7 Personal Core Values of Phenomenally Resilient People are-
The first of the 7 Personal Core Values of Phenomenally Resilient People is being focussed
Focus gives you the ability to resist temptation and remain in control and stay on board with the objective you wish to achieve. You see when your focus puts you in the driving seat to influence and direct your behaviour without having to rely on others.

The second Personal Core Value of Phenomenally Resilient People is being flexible.
Being flexible means you develop the right mindset for rapid personal growth because you aren’t stuck in a rut, but are mentally agile and able to adapt and evolve to any circumstance no matter how difficult things get.
The most agile and mentally flexible person I know is my dad. You see, my dad walked into Kings College Hospital complaining and pain in his leg. The pain was caused by his diabetes which affected the blood circulating in his right leg.
“phenomenally resilient are able to channel a problem into a success story”
After being in the hospital for a traumatic 3 months they couldn’t save his leg and it had to be amputated.
Despite the fact that my father had been given large doses of morphine to manage the pain resulting in hallucinating he was able to find another gear, a gear that made him even more resilient than he was before.
Far from feeling sorry for himself entertained the nurses on the ward, kept himself busy by learning to use a wheelchair, and gradually learned to mobilize using crutches all at the tender age of 83.
You see, my dad realized that there is a time in everyone’s life where we wish things could be different, but we need to embrace change. Because by doing so we become acceptant, responsible, progressive, innovative, and renewed.
Being flexible allows you to become closer than ever to realizing your true potential, you’ll also form the ability to harness complete confidence in yourself. Because you will be able to adjust to whatever life throws at you.

The third Personal Core Values of Phenomenally Resilient People is being able to problem-solve. Akin to being flexible phenomenally resilient people know that being resilient is the ability to put on another pair of glasses and see solutions where others see only problems.
You see, phenomenally resilient are able to channel a problem into a success story. This is what Charlize Theron did following the murder of her abusive alcoholic father by her mother who shot him dead. Charlize was 15 when it happened, and her mother shot him to save their lives. After this terrible event, Charlize was able to move on and channel herself into becoming the most amazing actress.

Overcome Life Traumas
To do this think of something traumatic that has happened to you, it might be that you broke up with your partner, lost your job, or even lost a loved one. How did you cope with the situation?
Would you have done anything differently?
If so what would you have done?
What would you have said?
Now imagine if that situation happened today. How would you apply what you have learned to how you would now handle the situation?
This exercise serves to show you that you are growing and learning.
You do have the ability to adapt and change to be pragmatic and approach testing and trying situations with mental agility.
This unique skill will ensure you remain responsible for your own happiness, not only that, you can use it to help others who are also facing tough times.
The fourth of the 7 Personal Core Values of Phenomenally Resilient People is being able to embrace your community.
Embracing your community means you have a sense of commitment to others and you have a duty to contribute to society to build harmony.
I’m sure you can appreciate that we all need support, and this can either be through extended family or friends’ neighbours and colleagues. In a workplace our coworkers are often very supportive, depending on the culture they are able to keep us socially connected.
“the more you give to others the longer you are likely to live”
If you work alone from home it is can be easy to become socially isolated. When you are at work, you are more readily able to discuss the challenges of the workplace and to engage in group problem-solving.
However, community means understanding the contribution you give to others. This involves being mindful of the positive impact it has on their physical and mental well-being for you and others. When we discover what positive effect our community has on our well-being we are prepared to put in more work.
You may not know this but the more you give to others the longer you are likely to live. If you would like to discover more about this read my article ‘Is Goodness a Core Value.’
Studies show that “when we are kind to others it releases dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin into the bloodstream, which relaxes our bodies and lowers our heart rate and blood pressure – pretty impressive for just doing good.”
The fifth Personal Core Values of Phenomenally Resilient People is becoming more pragmatic. Being pragmatic enables you to push past failures while remaining positive and competitive.
The wonderful thing about pragmatism is that while we are doing that we are readying ourselves for future challenges. Our characteristics, personality, and personal beliefs all play a role in building resilience while turning you into a survivor.
Without this quality, it is easy to allow yourself to become a victim. This can lead to placing greater emphasis on the negative outcome instead of looking at the positive.
However, just like my dad, your pragmatic approach to life will build mental toughness to help you adjust to new experiences, however, unwelcome they may be. Becoming mentally tough is a habit that we can all practice. Yes, you can harness a ‘win-win’ situation if you’re prepared to work at it.
Jane Fonda describes herself as mentally tougher than most men. She has survived three marriages and built a successful fitness empire as well as having an amazing acting career. She has had bombs raining down on her while in Vietnam and says that she is hardly ever frightened. Being wealthy has not protected her from adversity, and she has become a successful activist and role model for younger women. She has continually built mental toughness by focusing on a positive outcome.
If you would like to discover like me how to shift your mindset to become more pragmatic so you can better deal with what life throws your way check so books I recommend here. They will highlight your unique potential to shift onto a new path of achieving resilience and beat out your own path to success, whatever that looks like for you.

Continuing in a course of action in spite of opposition and immense difficulties is the sixth of the 7 Personal Core Values of Phenomenally Resilient People
Sometimes it is only our ability to remain persistent that carves out our success and resilient people understand this and work through it.
Sylvester Stallone is the epitome of persevering and persisting, and he has worked hard to get where he is today. When he started work he had to take lots of odd jobs to survive, including cleaning cages at the Zoo. He then became homeless and had to sleep in a Bus Terminal for a few weeks until he gained a role in a pornographic film, this gave him enough cash to get started.
Stallone never gave up persisting and also became a screenwriter during this time. He wrote the Rocky Balboa script and found people willing to fund it, allowing him to play the leading character. As a child he was flat-footed and his mother enrolled him in tap dancing classes to improve his walk and balance.
Acting jobs were hard to come by, but he never gave up trying. Once his hard work paid off in 1982 many of his projects came to fruition and he began to reap the financial rewards. Both Rocky and Rambo were hugely successful and he has gone on to do other projects.
In 2010 Stallone made the Expendables, starred wrote, and directed the film which cemented his success. None of this would have happened without his years of persistence.
