What Is Faith As a Core Value?

Faith, akin to fidelity, is putting your trust and confidence in someone or something, it’s a belief, conviction, optimism or expectation. Faithfulness is the quality of being faithful which takes many forms –

  • You can have faith a religion, based on your spiritual conviction, such a faith in God.
  • Faith in yourself, in other people, in an organization, theory, or ideology. Faith is a holistically generic term and provides assurance even if it is not tangible and you cannot see it.

Faith as a Core Value

All true Christian has faith as one of their core value because it fundamentally affects every decision they make. It also acts as a Global Positioning System helping them make the right decisions and decipher right from wrong. The Christian definition of faith is summed up in Hebrews 11:1 1611 KJV:

“Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Substance relates to actualisation or realisation of something and evidence refers to proof. This scripture illustrates that Christians believe you don’t have to see God to know he exists.

“faithfulness is linked to harmony and joy and brings with it contentment.”

Paulo Coelho de Souza a Brazilian lyricist and novelist, best known for his novel The Alchemist said:

“The more in harmony with yourself you are, the more joyful you are and the more faithful you are. Faith is not to disconnect you from reality – it connects you to reality.”

When you are faithful, you become loyal, devoted, dedicated, and committed to someone or something. According to Paulo Coelho quote, faithfulness is linked to harmony and joy and brings with it contentment.

Faith As a Core Values and Bring Positivity

quotes on faithFaith, like commitment, conjures up the power to believe you can achieve your realistic goal, no matter what they are. Adding a new layer to what might otherwise be a boring and uneventful life.

Positive psychology plays a significant role in our enjoyment of faith. It is the “scientific study of what makes life most worth living.” (Peterson, 2008) and focuses on those life events that bring us the most happiness, joy, gratitude, compassion, and resilience.

The researcher Martin Seligman studies in the 1960s and ’70s introduced the psychology theory “learned helplessness” he explained how humans and animals can learn to become helpless when they were conditioned to believe they could not escape a given situation. He exposed the link between depression and the feeling of being helpless.

And I have discovered this theory to be true in my own pet dog Kelly. Kelly is a cross between a Pomeranian and a Yorkshire Terrier. Whenever I give her a treat, I make her run up and down the stairs holding the treat in my hand so she runs after it. I also through it in the air and run around my house so she’s super excited about the treat. Not only is it good exercise for her it good for me too.

“We at some time in our life convince ourselves into believing we can’t achieve our goals”

I do this for about 10-15 minutes, occasionally when I throw the treat in the air it lands on the ground and she is able to pick it up and run off with it. However, I often manage to wrestle the treat away from her and start running around the house again with Kelly barking behind me. I have played with her in this way on numerous occasions and we both have a lot of fun and enjoyment doing it.

On a few occasions, however, I didn’t have the time to play with Kelly, so I just handed the treat. However, despite the treat being just one inch away from her mouth, she simply looked helplessly at me and refused to take it.

I was surprised and intrigued by her muted reaction until I realized that her behaviour was part of the learned helplessness that Martin Seligman was referring to in his studies.

We all go through a similar kind of behaviour in life. We convince ourselves into believing we can’t achieve our goals because when we tried before it didn’t happen.

But as we have learned from my dog Kelly’s, these obstacles are often self-imposed.  And simply because we didn’t succeed before doesn’t mean it will happen all the time.

The lesson you should take away from this is that if the door is open, have the faith to walk through it, don’t close it, and expect it to reopen.

If like me you tired of doors continuously remaining shut and seemingly not have the mental strength to open them – discover how doors will open for you freely by discovering how to completely believe in yourself. Click this link to find out more.

Living With Faith A Core Value?

Faith and core values

As a Christian, I believe that my life is about finding contentment through the love of Christ and loving others as I love myself.

My faith has helped me understand that life is much bigger than just me and it provides me with a sense of purpose, direction, and most importantly commitment towards others.

What I mean by a commitment to others is a willingness to take the time to appreciate human complexity. It’s understanding that people may not like me, for whatever reason but that doesn’t mean I dismiss them. Rather, I should take time to understand why they feel as they do and what if anything I can do to change it.

My faith has always been a fundamental value because it allows me to navigate the world in a heartfelt and empathetic way.

So the practicing of my faith has guided me through obstacles and pitfalls that I never thought possible. I have written an ebook called “Project You – How To Get What You Want Fast.” Faith is about believing in something or someone, and believing in Christ’s teaching and his innate love for you is about living your dreams and aspirations so you can help the people you most care about.

This is why as the book states you should discover the hidden secrets and help the people you care about. Caring about others is a large part of having faith. The objective behind me writing the book is for you to discover How To Overcome Your Limitations And Doubts So You Can Achieve Your Greatest Potential!” Click this link to discover more.

“Spiritual faith can also encourage you to become more reflective and question …. your thoughts and behaviour.”

So your faith can challenge us to continue our journey through life no matter how insecure we feel.

Your Faith As A Core Value

Core Values Significant Meaning

Faith takes you outside your ordinary realm of life so you become more secure because you know, even though others may not. Your faith is a belief that you’re not simply relying on your own limited ability but can lean on your mental toughness and self-belief.

Christians, believe that faith as a core value releases us from carrying the burdens of life on our own by leaning on the creator. There are countless times in my life where I have called on God to help me through a difficult situation. God has helped me get through the storm.

For my yoke is easy and my
burden is light
?”

The Bible states

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11 28-30 New International Version.

Faith can also help us to become more humble and gentle in our relationship with God, ourselves, and others.

Humility is seen as a virtue that creates a low self-preoccupation with oneself and a willingness to put others first. Being prepared to become selfless will help you start your journey to see the world in an entirely different way.

Instead of “me” it becomes “we”, instead of “taking” it becomes “giving” and instead of “complaining” you’ll become “undemanding.”

These are idealistic and rare attributes that will add value to your life and to the lives of the people you care about.

“Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark.”

– Rabindranath Tagore

Albert Einstein, the German-born theoretical physicist, said:

“Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason, mastery demands all of a person”.

Faith Can Promote Your Well-being

Spiritual faith core values

The world can often make us accept a lesser version of ourselves. You may not even be aware of this but each day, we go through societal programming. It continually reminds us that we need to reach a certain level of attainment to be a meaningful part of society.

We can often feel compelled to have a bigger house, the latest car and all the latest gadgets. However, such programming can stop us from truly believing in our self-worth and mask the true value we possess.

“if you accept spiritual faith as a core value …….you’re more likely to be responsible and accountable”

In the same way, catastrophes in our lives can result in internalizing our problems and make us degrade our potential. This can also lead us to believe the world’s degraded definition of us.

You can’t find a job, so that makes you worthless and insignificant.

You have let down your children.

Your relationship with your partner is at rock bottom, which turns you into an argumentative, dislikeable person.

It is easy to lost faith in yourself and feels trapped and undervalued. This led to a lack of confidence and have low self-esteem.

However, accepting spiritual faith as a core value will help you accept helps you believe the best about yourself because God loves you even when you believe no one else does.

This can give you that boost you need to stay change whatever it is in your world that’s making you unhappy.

Faith Builds Self-discipline And Has Other Powerful  Benefits

Faith enables us not to have to seek the approval of society to value ourselves. It enables us to appreciate our unique positioning in the world and not look to others to determine it.

“In short, faith gives you greater emotional and social insight.”

faith and social values

So, your material possession should never be the yardstick upon which you judge yourself or your level of popularity.

If your faith is a core value it provides the foundation upon which all things are based.

If you don’t have faith that you’ll be able to make it through the day, why would you get out of bed in the morning?

Faith promotes self-discipline because as Theodore Roosevelt once said,

“if you believe you can you’re halfway there.”

When you see the result of having faith it will encourage you to have more self-discipline.

Along with this, spiritual faith can also build better interpersonal relationships through teamwork and collaboration and better self-management. It can help build endurance, and resilience creating greater emotional collateral with others.

You’ll become less prone to conflict and perform better even outside your comfort zone. In short, faith gives you greater emotional and social stability.

Faith As A Core Value Requires Sacrifice?

Most things worth striving for requires some degree of sacrifice. However, contemporary society often demands instant gratification. The reality is instant gratification is superfluous and so moments later you’ll require the next big thing.

Instead, consider James Matthew Barrie’s quote, the writer of Peter Pan who said:

“Dreams do come true, if only we wish hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.”

“faith as a core value can bring with it sacrifice”

Your spiritual faith instead stops you from wanting what you really can’t afford and create harmony and balance with what you already have.

When you have a clear direction for your future it prevents your decisions from becoming blurry. So if you struggle with sacrificing the time, energy, and resilience to achieve your goals consider what faith you hold.

As Matthew’s quotes state dreams, like faith often requires a willingness to sacrifice but along with this, it brings integrity, mental toughness, and realistic optimism.

How Does Faith Make You Stronger?

Faith in God and Yourself

My mother’s Pastor told me how his wife insisted he go for a walk and get some fresh.

“I don’t want to go for a walk,” he said

“Yes you do,” she said

“go for a walk you need a break, and some fresh air, you’ve been in the house all day.”

“I don’t want to go for a walk,” he said, “it’s raining outside.”

“Yes, you do go for a walk,” she insisted.

Exasperated he said “Okay then, I’ll go for a walk, just to make you happy”

After several minutes of walking, he came across a friend, who was sitting in a car park with some cans of beer.

“The man had lost faith in his marriage, faith in God and lost faith in himself.”

The Pastor asked him what he was up to, and he told him he was going to Rochdale bridge.

The Pastor said he would come along with him. As they walked along talking the man told him how he had, had an argument with his wife and he was going to drink the cans of beer then end it all.

“What do you mean you’re going to end it all,” the Pastor asked.

“Am going to jump of Rochdale bridge?” he said.

“No you’re not,” said Pastor.

“Yes I am” he replied, “I’ve had a row with my wife, she doesn’t want me anymore, I’m going to end it all after I’ve finished these beers.”

The man had lost faith in his marriage, faith in God, and lost faith in himself.

Miraculously, after several hours talking the Pastor managed to convince him not to end his life and to go back to his wife and try to sort this out. He eventually did just that and managed to patch things up with his wife.

This story illustrates how the Pastor’s faith saved someone’s life. His faith made him selfless, willing to take hours of his time to help a friend.

What does your faith help you to achieve?

Faith Make Us Appreciate Life

The American Pastor, Joel Osteen once said:

“You’re going to go through tough times – that’s life. But I say, ‘Nothing happens to you, it happens for you.’ See the positive in negative events.”

“life is not just about us but about what we give to the world”

Like Osteen, my spiritual faith leads me to believe that every event in our lives, whether good or bad, can be used to strengthen and embolden us.

The ability to extract something positive out of something negative requires that you embrace an optimistic and more profound approach to life.

Faith in a higher power gives you that mental toughness to achieve your personal objectives and overcome setbacks.

A belief that there is something bigger and more meaningful than everyday natural life creates a sense of purpose and deeper meaning to life.

Spiritual faith encourages you to become more reflective and question and evaluate your thoughts and behaviour.

When you have faith in something greater than yourself you can appreciate that life is not just about you, it’s about what you can bring to the world to enable others to grow. If through faith, we give back more then we receive our lives transmute into something much richer than we could ever imagine.

By understanding that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that life has a habit of testing you when we least expect it, you have true faith.
